About When Hounds Fly: Since 2010, over 16000 dogs (and their families!) have taken dog training classes with us. We are proud to offer the highest quality instruction and classroom experience for Toronto dog owners that want the very best for their pups. Our mission is to strengthen relationships between pet dogs and their owners by providing outstanding owner-education on humane training and behaviour modification techniques.

As we continue to expand our reach and engage with our community, we are seeking a talented and creative individual to join us as a Part-Time Videographer.

This Part-Time Videographer Contract position is being funded by the Canadian Digital Adoption Plan Boost Your Business technology grant with Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada. To qualify, candidates must be a youth aged 18-30, be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees with the right to work in Canada, and the youth must not have previously benefited from a completed CDAP Boost Your Technology Work Placement.

Position Overview:

As a Part-Time Videographer at When Hounds Fly, you will play a crucial role in capturing the essence of our brand and showcasing our services, clients, and instructors through compelling visual storytelling.

We want you to help us tell our story to the world! Whether it is a first time puppy parent experiencing the excitement, frustration, and love of their new puppy, a long-time student and dog team excelling at a high level at agility, or a formerly struggling dog guardian who has helped transform their fearful or aggressive dog into a confident and friendly companion, we believe these stories need to be shared through the power of storytelling through video.

You will work closely with our marketing team to produce high-quality video content for distribution across various platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and our website.

Attention to detail easter egg: Mention in your cover letter that your favourite colour is orange, even if it isn’t.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop video concepts and storyboards that align with our brand identity and messaging.
  • Film a variety of content, including client testimonials, training sessions, instructional videos, and promotional materials.
  • Capture authentic moments that highlight the unique experiences and successes of our clients and their dogs.
  • Ensure that all footage adheres to our brand guidelines and maintains a consistent aesthetic.
  • Manage the organization and storage of video files to facilitate easy access and retrieval.
  • Work with our Digital Marketing Manager to transform footage into memorable video content that educates, excites, and creates interest in our company.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in videography and social media to continually enhance the quality and effectiveness of our video content.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in videography, including proficiency in operating cameras, lighting equipment, and audio recording devices.
  • Access to your own higher end smartphone (recent model iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, or Google Pixel for example) and/or other video cameras that can shoot in 4K.
  • Strong technical skills in video editing software in both 9:16 and 16:9 formats..
  • A keen eye for visual composition, storytelling, and attention to detail.
  • Competency with video editing suites to produce polished, finished content complete with titles, graphic overlays, transitions, music, and captions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings to accommodate filming schedules and events.
    Ability to travel to our four Toronto locations, and also public spaces where our outdoor lessons might be delivered.
  • Passion for dogs and a genuine interest in our mission to promote positive dog-guardian relationships.
