Rally-O (Rally Obedience) Levels 1 and 2 Cost: $200 per dog plus HSTStart Date: Saturday, February 25, 2012, 12:00PM (Only Rally Level 1 is offered this time) Duration: 5 sessions (February 25, March 3, 10, 17, 24) Maximum number of students: 4 dogs and their handlers. (Sorry we sold out!!!) Prerequisites: Please see subsections between (Rally Level 1 vs Rally Level 2) Rally Obedience is a relatively new dog sport that incorporates aspects of competitive obedience and agility. Handler and dog make their way through a course with a series of stations. Each station has a behavior such as sit, down, stand, or heel (i.e. 180 degree turn), and more advanced courses feature behaviors such as figure 8s, weaves, and jumps. In novice levels, the dog is on leash and the owner is allowed to talk and interact with their dog, making it an easy dog sport to get into! What you and your dog will get from Rally-O:
Our Rally-O class will be taught by Mirkka Koivusalo of Mindful Behaviors, originally from Finland, now living in Toronto. She is an accomplished competitor in obedience, tracking, and search and rescue, and is also a colleague of mine from the Karen Pryor Academy - meaning all behaviors will be taught with a clicker, using capturing and shaping methods (no food lures here!) Rally Level 1Get started on your path to Rally Obedience! Prerequisites: Completion of Foundation Skills at When Hounds Fly. Other schools equivalents are accepted at our discretion (please check), but all handlers and dogs must be clicker savvy and motivated to work. Behaviors Introduced:
Rally Level 2Ready to take your Obedience behaviors to the next level? Get ready for trial calibre performances with Rally Level 2. Prerequisites: Completion of Rally 1 at When Hounds Fly. Equivalents accepted at our discretion (please check), but all handlers and dogs must be clicker savvy and motivated to work. Dogs should have basic levels of the following behaviors: Finish/hind-end rotation (dog rotates on perch - we will fade out the perch in this class and put finish on verbal cue), front, heel, sit on cue, down on cue. Behaviors and training concepts introduced or polished:
